Do You Really Need AI Training If Your Team Already Uses ChatGPT?

By Chrysti Reichert · · Central Florida

Short answer: Using ChatGPT and using AI well are not the same thing, and the gap between them is where the value and most of the risk live. If your team gets mediocre outputs, trusts them without checking, or only uses AI for the obvious stuff, training pays for itself fast. If they already validate outputs and use it on real work, you might just need a strategy session.

"We already use ChatGPT" is the most common reason teams skip training. It is also usually wrong. Here is what it looks like in most offices: a few people paste in a question, get a confident-sounding answer, and ship it. Nobody checks whether it is right. Nobody is sure what is safe to put in. Most of the team uses it to reword emails while the genuinely useful work goes untouched. That is not using AI. That is using about 5% of it, with the validation step missing. Most AI training teaches tools. The point is teaching your team to think clearly with AI.

What untrained AI use actually costs

Signs your team actually needs training

Signs you are probably fine for now

If you are in the first list, AI Lab: Focused gives your team a working session on one to two real workflows. If you are in the second, a broader session or strategy engagement may fit better once the next layer of opportunity is clear.

Common questions

My team uses ChatGPT daily. Isn't that enough? Daily use tells you it is adopted, not that it is used well. The question is whether they validate outputs and use it for high-value work, or just reword emails.

How is AI training scoped? AI Lab: Focused covers one to two real workflows. AI Lab: Expanded covers four to six workflows across a department. The right scope depends on the work, the tools and the decisions your team needs to make.
